A network of fault-tolerant MxPro 5 fire panels from Advanced, have been installed at the UK headquarters of FTSE 250-listed retailer, Computacenter.

As a leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services, having robust fire protection measures in place at Computacenter’s UK logistics and distribution centre is crucial to ensuring smooth operations.

As part of a fire system upgrade and move towards a more open-style protocol, Advanced was selected as the preferred solution at Hertfordshire-based Computacenter’s headquarters which, at over 220,000 square feet, are some of Europe’s largest and most sophisticated purpose-built warehousing and operations facilities.

A single 8-loop, one 5-loop and two 1-loop MxPro 5 panels form the core of the site’s active fire protection. The new Advanced panels were integrated with several third-party systems in the warehouse and operations building, including auto conveyors, sprinklers, gas suppression, aspirator systems and fire doors and shutters.

MxPro 5 is an unbeatable multiprotocol fire system. Approved to EN54-2, 4 & 13, it offers four protocols, Apollo, Argus, Hochiki and Nittan and a completely open installer network that benefits from free training and technical support. Panels can be used in single-loop, single-panel format or easily configured into high-speed, 200-panel networks covering huge areas. MxPro 5 panels are backwardly compatible with existing MxPro 4 networks and include a host of features, including AlarmCalm for complete false alarm management and reduction.

When Hitachi Rail Europe was building the UK’s first brand new train factory in more than a century,  industry-leading MxPro multiprotocol fire panels from Advanced were the obvious choice to protect the state of the art facility and its half billion pound investment.

The Newton Aycliffe site, which created more than 730 jobs, was built to construct new InterCity Express trains for Great Western and LNER. replacing existing rolling stock that was almost 40 years old. The £5.7 billion order comprised 122 five and nine-carriage trains in total.

Advanced’s benchmark MxPro 4 fire panel range was specified for its flexibility, reliability and ease of use. The fully integrated five-panel network will cover all areas of the new manufacturing facility and comprising 942 components in total, including over 200 smoke detectors and 150 sounder beacons, as well as an aspirating system. The MxPro 4 panels at the site are connected with a high speed, fault-tolerant network, interfaced with a PC-based graphical control system, and supporting Apollo fire devices. This setup makes allowance for subsequent updates and expansion of the system.

MxPro is the fire industry’s leading multiprotocol fire solution, offering customers a choice of two panel ranges, four detector protocols and a completely open installer network that enjoys free training and support. MxPro panels can be used in single loop, single panel format or easily configured into multi-loop, high speed, 200 panel networks covering huge areas and thousands of field devices.

Malta’s primary power generator, the 2012 extension of the Delimara Power Station, is protected by an MxPro 4 fire panel network from Advanced.

Advanced’s MxPro 4 fire panels for the fire system at the new diesel engine plant at the Delimara Power Station, which was commissioned in December 2012, generating 149MW of electrical energy for the island.

The LPCB certified system comprises 16 loops in total, including four MxPro 4 panels with repeater panels in the station’s main control room. The system includes over 700 individual components and over 7km of cable runs. Advanced supplied a project-specific solution that was specially manufactured by its AdSpecials department. The MxPro 4 panels were assembled together with a large array of interfaces and peripherals in a two metre high rack enclosure. This unit was also accompanied by a separate repeater panel.

MxPro is Advanced’s flagship range of multiprotocol panels, offering customers a choice of two panel ranges, four detector protocols and a completely open installer network that enjoys free training and support. MxPro panels can be used in single loop, single panel format or easily configured into high speed, 200 panel networks covering huge areas. Advanced’s legendary ease of installation and configuration and wide peripheral range make it customisable to almost any application.
