Advanced has supplied an intelligent MxPro 5 fire panel with wireless detection to iconic Scottish knitwear brand Eribé.

An Advanced MxPro 5 analogue addressable fire panel has been installed at Eribé Knitwear to provide industry-leading protection that is high-performance and fault-tolerant. The system was installed following a fire risk assessment which required Category L2 coverage.

Founded in 1986, Eribé’s knitwear design house and manufacturing company is based in Melrose, in the Scottish Borders. The company prides itself in championing Made in Scotland and has a dedicated fan base worldwide. During 2024 the company took time to assess the whole business to strengthen its internal and external systems and processes for its staff and customers. As part of this process, Eribé reviewed its fire system to ensure full compliance and prioritise staff, premises, and customer safety by investing in Advanced fire protection.

Fire and security service providers, Safe Services, installed an Advanced MxPro 5 single-loop analogue addressable fire panel to replace the existing fire system, as it was old and could not be brought up to standard. Since the MxPro 5 was being retrofitted at Eribé the Advanced panel was seamlessly integrated with an EMS Firecell wireless system, this simplified the installation since cabling was not required throughout the building.

“In 2024 we reviewed our business as a whole to strengthen our processes. The safety of our staff, premises, and customers was a priority and so we were fully behind investing in an Advanced fire safety system. We are now really proud to say that with the help of Safe Services, our extended team, managers and directors feel far more knowledgeable regarding the risks and actions, and the whole team feels safer and more invested in it as a result,” said Tamsin Ansdell, Eribé Knitwear.

Graeme Millar, Fire Technical Sales Engineer at Safe Services, said: “We were responsible for the installation, commissioning, verification and handover of the system at Eribé, and will also be conducting ongoing maintenance. As we installed the Advanced panel with the wireless EMS Firecell it made it far more straightforward and meant less disruption for Eribé. We have several sites we have worked on with the same combination, and know the Advanced MxPro 5 works well with EMS equipment. The Advanced MxPro 5 is our panel of choice as it’s a trusted and reliable panel with our design and installation teams.”

Neil Parkin, Sales Manager at Advanced, said: “Choosing wireless equipment when installing a fire system is ideal for retrofitting, where cabling can be trickier to install and visually unappealing. Add to that the time and cost benefits they provide to installers, and it is a great choice in multiple scenarios both large and small. Our MxPro 5 panels are designed to make life as easy as possible, delivering robust protection that offers real peace of mind, all backed up by our highly rated technical support.”

Intelligent fire panels from global fire systems leader, Advanced, have been installed in Condor House, a prestigious £134 million Central London office building.

Situated at the prime London business address of St Paul’s Churchyard, the nine-storey commercial premises, Condor House stands adjacent to St Paul’s Cathedral and just meters from Fleet Street. Comprising 110,000 sq ft of high-quality office space, Condor House is home to a number of professional services firms including financial services provider Barclays Capital and investment bank Moelis & Company. Hailed by the installers as the “Engineer’s choice”, a network of Advanced’s flagship 4-loop MxPro 5 multiprotocol fire panels have been installed to protect the site.

The ‘closed’ nature of the system meant that the cost for alterations and maintenance was higher than the market price of an ‘open’ system. WFP integrated the MxPro 5 open protocol control panels, that recently received FM Approval to the EN54 standard, alongside Apollo’s XP95 range of detectors and interfaces. Advanced’s PC-based graphical interface package, detailing the building layout to make it straightforward for the security team to have visibility and control over the fire system, was also provided.

Advanced’s AdSpecials team were asked to design and build several custom panels including 200 zonal indicator panels, sprinkler indication panels and bespoke plant with key switch isolation controls to be installed in mobile racking units alongside the six 4-loop fire alarm panels. For customers requiring custom fire panels, Advanced’s AdSpecials team will work with them to design and manufacture unique panels and control interfaces for its fire systems, whatever the installation challenge.

We have supplied intelligent fire panels to 5 Aldermanbury Square, London, as part of a major refurbishment.

Advanced’s high-performance, fault-tolerant MxPro 5 analogue addressable fire panels are providing industry-leading protection to all areas of the 22-storey building.

5 Aldermanbury Square is located in the City of London with the Eric Parry designed landmark delivering exceptional views across the London skyline. Fire safety and security specialists, Pacific Security Systems Ltd, was contracted to undertake the upgrade of the building’s current Advanced fire panel network. The existing system was an Advanced MX4000 so migrating the system over to new MxPro 5 panels was the obvious solution due to the useful backward compatibility. Since all works had to be completed overnight to ensure the system was fully operational during the day, this compatibility proved essential.

Pacific Security Systems was involved in the design, installation and commissioning of the fire system. 12 MxPro 5 intelligent fire panels were installed along with an Advanced graphics system and a two-stage staff alarm for false alarm management. Advanced’s special build service was also able to design and build a bespoke floor-standing double annunciator that sits on the network via the PENN network device and provides: zonal indication; sounder control; damper status and control; fire phone control; and sprinkler and wet riser indication. The Advanced system is linked to over 3,000 devices including access control systems, dampers, BMS and plant shutdowns. The system uses Apollo protocol and Discovery optical smoke detectors are installed throughout.

Kirk Short, Director of Pacific Security Systems Ltd, said “Advanced’s ability to provide a full package of panels, graphics and special-build service is why we have been specifying and installing their equipment for over 10 years. The MxPro 5 panels provide a powerful platform, comprehensive cause and effect functions, fast network and user-friendly controls and were the ideal solution for 5 Aldermanbury Square. Their backwards compatibility enabled us to upgrade the system overnight while maintaining essential fire protection throughout the refurbishment – no easy feat!

Matthew Jones, Head of Sales for UK and Ireland at Advanced, said: “We are delighted that Advanced’s fire panels are providing essential fire protection to the RIBA-award winning 5 Aldermanbury Square. Our MxPro 5 panels are designed to make life as easy as possible, delivering robust protection that offers real peace of mind, all backed up by our highly rated technical support.”

MxPro 5 is the fire industry’s leading multiprotocol fire panel and is certified by FM Approvals to EN 54 Parts 2 and 4. It offers customers a choice of four detector protocols and a completely open installer network, backed up by free training and support. MxPro 5 can be used in single-loop, single-panel format, or easily configured into high-speed networks of up to 200 panels covering huge areas. Ease of installation and configuration, as well as its wide range of peripheral options, make MxPro 5 customisable to almost any application.

The MxPro 5’s stand-out false alarm management capabilities are available as standard. AlarmCalm delivers unprecedented control of verification and investigation delays. By dividing sites up into virtual false alarm ‘building areas’ independent of fire zones, much more precise control of false alarm management and reduction strategies can be achieved, that exactly fit the needs of each part of a building. An optional AlarmCalm button allows trained occupants to verify if they believe a local fire signal is a false alarm too – a highly effective way of eliminating unwanted alarms.

The MxPro 5 BMS/graphics interface allows BMS systems and graphical control PCs to be easily integrated with the MxPro 5 series of fire control panels and remote terminals using a simple RS232 connection. Multiple interfaces can be connected to the network catering for sites requiring control from a number of graphical PCs.

A shared use office and retail space at the landmark former home of British Pathé is now being protected by Advanced.

360Fire designed and commissioned a new Advanced fire alarm system with phased evacuation as part of a wider restoration and refurbishment project which will see the creation of a number of workspaces, including private offices, office suites and full floors, alongside social areas and retail units.

Located at 142 Wardour Street, Soho, Film House was once at the heart of London’s ‘film row’. By the late 1940s it’s estimated that up to 100 film companies occupied the street, including Warner Brothers and 20th Century Fox.

Originally the site of Faraday Electrical Works, the office building was re-built in 1929 in the Art Deco style. Over its long history it has acted as the headquarters for several iconic British businesses, including the Associated-British Pathé film company and later HMV.

Taking design responsibility for the project, 360Fire worked with Mechanical Services Ltd (MSL) who installed four, four-loop Advanced MxPro 5 panels and one repeater panel alongside Hochiki detectors, covering all six tenanted floors of the building.

Selected for their open-protocol nature, the panels are integrated with a voice alarm system allowing for phased evacuation, with lifts operating on a dual signal to the ground or alternative floor, depending on fire location. An out of hours override activated via the panel’s function button cancels the phased evacuation and enables the system to revert to a ‘one out all out’ system with no delays. Further integration with the building’s BMS enables control over sprinklers, door access, lifts, and smoke vents.

The system also makes use of MxPro 5’s stand-out false alarm management capabilities. Available as standard on MxPro 5 panels, AlarmCalm delivers unprecedented control of verification and investigation delays.

Chris Peart, Service & Commissioning Manager at 360Fire, said: “This was a complex project and MxPro 5 panels were specifically chosen due to their open protocol nature, flexibility and ease of cause-and-effect programming. Advanced is the market leader and without fail represents the best solution for both the installer and the end user.”

MxPro 5 is the fire industry’s leading multiprotocol fire system solution, approved to EN54 Parts 2, 4 and 13. It offers customers a choice of four detector protocols and a completely open installer network, backed up by free training and support. MxPro 5 panels can be used in single-loop, single-panel format, or easily configured into high-speed networks of up to 200 panels covering huge areas. Ease of installation and configuration, as well as a wide range of peripherals, make MxPro 5 suitable for almost any application.

An industry-leading Axis EN fire system has been installed in MIRACLZ, a new mixed-use tower block in Dubai.

Our Axis EN range with voice evacuation, fire telephone, and smoke management has been installed at MIRACLZ, covering the entire building. Located next to Miracle Garden, the 37-storey building houses 591 fully furnished one-bedroom, two-bedroom and studio apartments; shopping and leisure experiences; a swimming pool and sauna; gym; party hall; and kids’ play area.

The main fire panel with voice command centre is located in the ground floor fire command centre room and is networked with multiple 1, 4 and 8-loop panels to form a distributed system. The installation also included an Advanced remote repeater panel, integration with third-party detectors, and a dedicated voice evacuation amplifier on each of the building’s floors.

EDMAC Consulting specified the fire system and it was supplied, installed and commissioned by Advanced distribution partners, Cignetix Systems. Fully integrated with BACNET BMS, the system incorporates over three thousand addressable devices including interfacing units for monitoring or controlling of water flow switches, staircase pressurisation fans, lifts, air handling units and fire dampers. The system complies with various European, American and UAE Civil Defence codes.

Sunil Gopalkrishnan, Managing Director at Cignetix, said: “Thanks to their reputation for performance, quality and ease of use, Advanced are our preferred choice of fire alarm, fire telephone and voice evacuation systems – capable of handling large networks of up to 200 panels and complex cause and effect programming.”

Sasi Kumar, Commercial Manager, Middle East and Africa at Advanced, said: “The Middle East is a unique market with both EN and UL solutions being used. GCC customers can be disappointed if a fire system doesn’t meet the standard they require on a project, but we offer solutions for both standards in our Axis EN and Axis AX product ranges respectively. Few competitors can match us from that respect and this flexibility is valued by our customers. The Axis ranges are not only robust and versatile, but also easy to use – from installation and commissioning to servicing, maintenance and day-to-day operation. We have had excellent feedback on the Advanced Axis EN system from the installer at MIRACLZ.”

Providing powerful networking capacity, the Axis EN system supports robust networks of up to 200 panels per network. Networks can also be combined to create very large fire systems making the Axis EN ideal for complex, large-scale installations. Whether networking high-risk sites with complicated cause and effect, remotely monitoring networked sites, or integrating with building management systems, intuitive software and panel navigation make setup straightforward.

Axis EN is a complete fire system solution combining a high-performance, addressable panel approved to EN54 Parts 2, 4 and 13 with a comprehensive wired and wireless detector range plus extensive peripheral options.

Our fire telephone solution is ideal for high and low-rise apartment buildings, hotels, universities, government and military sites where local fire departments and emergency personnel need access to fire/emergency communications. Designed for clear, easy-to-use control, the conventional system benefits from LED status indications showing its operational state – whether the system has a call-in, is connected or is in fault condition. The fire telephone system can be configured as either a standalone, independent system or completely integrated into the Axis EN fire system.
